Release Date and System Requirements for Risen RPG Set
Posted on 02 August 2009 by Rock'nRolf

The eagerly awaited role-playing title Risen from Piranha Bytes is almost finished due for release on October 2nd.
Piranha Bytes is the developer responsible for the popular Gothic series of role-playing games for the PC. Risen is a single-player fantasy RPG set on a Caribbean-like island, and from the screenshots it looks like a cross between Far Cry and Oblivion. One thing’s for sure though – it looks damn good.

Here are the basics of the plot: Some odd ancient ruins have magically started to rise out of the ground and along with them some strange monsters are starting to appear. You are caught in the middle of the weird creatures and an equally unsettling organization known as The inquisition. The game supposedly offers a lot of freedom to explore this very living world, which goes about a life of its own whether you are there to see it or not.

Hopefully we can have a review up shortly after the game is available to tell you more about this highly interesting RPG. You have until October 2 to prep your PC with the following to make sure it meets the System Requirements:
The minimum system runs on XP, a 2GHz CPU and a DX9.1 compatible graphics card equivalent of (at least) a GeForce 7900 or an ATI X1800.
The recommended specs differs only in the graphics card bit; a GeForce 8800 series or ATI HD2900.
