Square Enix Hit By ‘Hidden Fees’ Lawsuit
Posted on 04 July 2009 by Rock'nRolf

The popular online RPG Final Fantasy XI contains hidden fees, according to an Esther Leong of San Francisco. In the unlikely event that the court finds in her favor, Square Enix may have to pay up $5 million in damages for “unethical business practices” and a number of other accusations.
Square Enix is the creator of the incredibly successful Final Fantasy series, of which part XI is an online RPG for both PC and consoles. It’s reasonable to assume that most gamers are well aware of the subscription fees associated with participating in MMO games, especially when it’s clearly stated on both the game’s website, on the cover of the retail box, as well as in the actual game.
Nonetheless, this woman and her lawyer seem to think that they can squeeze the game developer for millions. In the best case scenario, she might get her $12.99 fee back, but I wouldn’t count on it. Stranger things have happened though.
Square Enix is undoubtedly mostly known for its Final Fantasy games, but they recently released a PC RPG – don’t miss out on our The Last Remnant PC Version Review.

Good luck getting that 5 mil you retard
That’s unfortunate. Will this one affect the release of X1V? I just hope that NCsoft will never have this kind of controversy with Aion online, it’s their time to shine.
