Everyone looking forward to the upcoming roleplaying-game based on the Alien movies are in for some massive disappointment.

Obsidian Entertainment – the developer behind the excellent PC RPG Neverwinter Nights 2, as well as Knights of the Old Republic – has been working on a role-playing game based around the Alien(s) universe. After a number of delays, it unfortunately looks like the game has been shelved entirely. One of Obsidian’s developers commented in the official forum that they have stopped working on the game.

The Alien RPG (which was never properly named) would probably have been an awesome game, considering Obsidian’s track record, but the game’s publisher Sega seems more intent on using the Alien franchise to develop something else – probably some boring action game that Sega thinks have a better chance at raking in the big bucks.
